Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Compfo ("Service"), operated by Compfo ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Compfo is a software-as-a-service platform that allows companies to upload documents and enable their employees to ask questions, receiving AI-generated answers sourced from those documents. The Service is provided on a subscription basis.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Each company workspace is managed by one or more administrators who control access for their team. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

The Service is offered on a monthly subscription basis. Plans and pricing are described at compfo.com. A 7-day free trial is provided to new accounts with limited usage (10 questions, 10 MB storage). After the trial, a paid subscription is required to continue using the Service.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until canceled. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal. No refunds are provided for partial months. Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload documents containing illegal content, malware, or content that violates third-party rights
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or access other companies' data
• Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive or harm others
• Reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense the Service
• Use automated scripts to abuse the Service beyond reasonable use

4a. Prohibited Data

The Service is designed for general business documents such as policies, procedures, manuals, and internal knowledge. You agree NOT to upload:

• Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal identifiers
• Protected health information subject to HIPAA
• Payment card data subject to PCI-DSS
• Classified government information or data subject to ITAR, EAR, or similar export control regulations
• Any data whose storage or processing requires a certification or compliance framework (e.g., SOC 2, FedRAMP, HIPAA) that the Service does not currently maintain

You are solely responsible for ensuring the content you upload complies with this restriction. We are not liable for any harm resulting from prohibited data being uploaded to the Service.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of all documents and content you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit it solely to provide the Service. We do not use your content for any other purpose, including training AI models.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any documents you provide and that doing so does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.

6. AI Limitations and Professional Advice Disclaimer

Compfo uses AI to generate answers from your uploaded documents. While the system is designed to answer only from your documents, AI systems can make mistakes, misinterpret context, or generate inaccurate output. The Service is a productivity and information retrieval tool only.

The Service does NOT provide legal, medical, financial, tax, safety, or other professional advice, and nothing generated by the Service should be construed as such advice or relied upon as a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional. This applies regardless of the type of documents uploaded, including legal, medical, financial, or safety-related content.

You are solely responsible for independently verifying any information obtained through the Service before relying on it or acting on it, especially in contexts involving legal proceedings, medical decisions, financial transactions, or safety-critical operations. We disclaim all liability for decisions made or actions taken based on Service output.

7. Data and Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

8. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts the Service. We are not liable for losses resulting from service interruptions.

9. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data is retained for 30 days before deletion.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, or that AI-generated output will be accurate or complete.

10a. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL COMPFO, ITS OWNER, OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to the Service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 3 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory of liability and even if any limited remedy fails of its essential purpose.

11a. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Compfo, its owner, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) content you upload, including any violation of the Prohibited Data section above; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property or privacy rights.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
